At InFocus College we make sure that we support our students to prepare for adulthood, including providing access to independent and appropriate careers advice.
We are committed to applying the eight Gatsby benchmarks of Good Career Guidance in ways that are appropriate for our learners:
- A stable careers programme
- Learning from career and labour market information
- Addressing the needs of each pupil
- Linking curriculum learning to careers
- Encounters with employers and employees
- Experiences of workplaces
- Encounters with further and higher education
- Personal
Appropriate experiences are arranged for each student. These may include work experience, formal employability training, a Supported Internship (as part of a transition from education to meaningful volunteering or an apprenticeship) or other work-related learning.

After being here a few more years, I’m hoping to become independent enough to move out, get a job and maybe when I’m older, start a family.
