About the role
We are seeking Learning Support Workers to join our specialist further education college. You will work as part of a wider multi-disciplinary team, including therapists, nurses, and mobility specialists, supporting our young people to access the InFocus further education curriculum. Our curriculum has been specially designed for young people with vision impairment and additional complex needs, helping them prepare for adulthood, develop independent living skills, and build their confidence.
You will be part of a close-knit team, supporting our young people in the residential setting with their morning routines before accompanying them to our on-site college and assisting them in class with their learning. You will provide highly personalised support, responding to each individual’s needs, wishes, and aspirations.
The role also involves supporting young people with their personal care and medical needs, always ensuring these are met with dignity, respect, and compassion.
About you
This is an exciting opportunity to join our team and support and empower our fabulous young people aged 16 to 25 at InFocus College. Whilst this role is very much focused on supporting learning, it is also about supporting the wider needs of our young people, all of whom have a vision impairment and additional complex needs.
We are looking for kind, friendly, and compassionate people with a can-do approach and the drive to make a difference to the lives of our young people through learning. You will be someone who enjoys having fun and working as part of a team in a busy environment. You will be ambitious for our young people and have a strong belief in their potential to learn and make progress.
At InFocus, we will support you every step of the way by providing a comprehensive, well-designed induction programme, along with mandatory training, to help you get off to the best possible start. This will ensure that you fully understand your role within the organisation and feel confident in your ability to make a positive impact.
