What is vision impairment awareness training?
Vision impairment awareness training (VIAT) is a practical training course focused on helping people understand the needs of those with a visual impairment.
Training sessions typically last from one hour to a full day, and include a range of key topics such as understanding facts about sight loss, challenging any false stereotypes or misconceptions that exist in regards to visual impairments.
It also looks at technologies that can be used to support individuals and how to create an accessible environment. The aim of this training is to give people the knowledge and skills needed to support people with visual disabilities in the workplace or educational setting.
