InFocus recently held two special sensory events in collaboration with Moorvision, a local charity dedicated to supporting families with children who have vision impairments (VI). These events provided engaging and inclusive activities designed to share our facilities and expertise to the wider VI community.

The first event was an exciting Forest School adventure held at InFocus’ 13-acre Outdoor Learning Centre in West Hill. Families gathered in the picturesque setting to enjoy a variety of woodland crafts, explore a sensory trail, and indulge in making S’mores by the fire. The plan was to end the event with a relaxing picnic in the beautiful surroundings. However, a sudden thunderstorm brought torrential rain, disrupting these plans. Undeterred, everyone quickly moved to the polytunnel, where they shared a cozy lunch under cover, turning the unexpected weather into a memorable and bonding experience!

The second event was an inclusive Sports Day, held on the track and field at InFocus. This event featured a range of activities designed to be accessible and fun for everyone, including basketball, curling, tug of war, giant feet races, parachute games, and an assault course. The atmosphere was filled with joy and excitement as the whole family participated in the various events. The day concluded with a certificate ceremony, celebrating the efforts and achievements of all participants, followed by a well-deserved picnic.

The success of these events highlights the importance of accessible activities that cater to the needs of children with vision impairments, ensuring they can participate fully and joyfully in various experiences. InFocus and Moorvision look forward to continuing their partnership and hosting more events in the future, bringing smiles and cherished memories to many more families.
